A wonderful gym with a very spacious mat area, and the changing area has plenty of room for parents and visitors to sit and wait.

Head instructor Tashiro is very easygoing and friendly, so even first-timers can talk to him without feeling nervous and get started with jiu-jitsu in a fun way. My impression is that many members are Japanese-Brazilian, but it is a great gym where anyone can enjoy jiu-jitsu without barriers.

Translated from Japanese

A very clean jiu-jitsu dojo with a white-based interior that had just moved from Kamisato to near Honjo Station. The instructor teaches in great detail and very carefully. Sparring is optional, and there is no grueling strength training or harsh coaching.

Translated from Portuguese

Top, I recommend it! You get excellent guidance in jiu-jitsu, and the classes are very well structured, with direct instruction from the professor.

Message from Head Instructor

Before I began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I had no particular goals or hobbies and spent my evenings idly after work. Meeting jiu-jitsu changed my life greatly. Today, I teach jiu-jitsu surrounded by wonderful students.

Some people lose weight through jiu-jitsu, gain confidence and become more positive about everyday life. Martial arts can enrich our lives. I want to share this wonderful experience with everyone in our community.

08 / FAQ

FAQ

Q1Is it OK to join if I am a complete beginner with no experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or martial arts?

Yes, of course. Many people at our dojo started with no experience. Jiu-jitsu involves no strikes, giving it a high level of safety, and you can enjoy learning from the basics.

Q2Is it too late to start in my 30s or 40s to get more exercise or lose weight?

Not at all. Many adults in their 20s through 50s attend our dojo as a regular hobby. It is a full-body activity, so we also recommend it for weight management and stress relief.

Q3Can children and elementary school students learn manners and develop coordination through these classes?

Yes. In our kids classes, we teach not only jiu-jitsu techniques but also the importance of greetings and good manners. Mat exercises naturally help children develop the basic fitness that supports all kinds of sports.

Q4Does starting jiu-jitsu involve a large initial expense, such as buying a gi?

A gi is normally required, but you can attend a trial in comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. When you join, we will clearly explain when to buy a gi and how to choose one.

Q5Can women participate safely? Is jiu-jitsu useful for self-defense?

Yes, women can also participate with confidence. Jiu-jitsu focuses on controlling an opponent through leverage and body mechanics rather than strength alone, so we recommend it for self-defense as well.

Q6Can I drive to the dojo from outside Honjo? Is parking available?

Yes, we provide free parking. Our location is convenient for people in Honjo and nearby areas such as Kamisato, Kodama, Kamikawa, Misato, Fukaya, and Isesaki in Gunma Prefecture.

Q7What should I bring for a visit or free trial? Can I come empty-handed?

You are welcome to come empty-handed just for a visit. If you participate in a free trial, please bring a comfortable T-shirt and shorts, a towel, and a drink. A gi is not required.
